The latest legal challenge to the council’s decision to give away Warren Farm to Queens Park Rangers football club has failed. Court of Appeal judges Lord Justice Lindblom, Lord Justice Patten and Lady Justice Hallett agreed that Ealing council’s decision was lawful.
We await detailed analysis of the judgment, but our reading suggests that the judges carefully picked through planning law to show that that a council giving away green public open space land to a corporation for its private use is within the law. But they did not suggest it was right or moral.
Further steps are being considered. In the meantime, BRCS would like to heartily thank those who put so much time and effort into the campaign to save Warren Farm, particularly members of Olde Hanwell Residents’ Association and Hanwell Community Network.
