Statement on funding by BRCS
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE BRENT RIVER & CANAL SOCIETY
BRCS is a registered charity overseen by the Charity Commissioners and accountable to our members. We have a written constitution, trustees who are elected, hold an Annual General Meeting and publish our accounts.
Since launching the campaign for Ealing Council to adopt the BRCS Vision for Warren Farm, neither BRCS nor Warren Farm Nature Reserve group have requested donations from the public. When signing our petition, some of you kindly contributed to CHANGE.ORG’s running and promotional costs, but no money was sought for our campaign.
The BRCS Vision is costing Ealing Council less than it was previously spending to run Warren Farm and all maintenance is currently being funded within existing budgets. BRCS is monitoring the situation, but is satisfied that no additional fund raising is necessary to deliver our Vision at this time.
BRCS notes the very generous support of the crowd funded appeals for the Judicial Reviews that saved Warren Farm from destruction, but these appeals were concluded last year.
It has come to our notice that new attempts to solicit money to fund activities at Warren Farm are being made. We wish to make it clear that none of these requests come from us, they are not linked to the BRCS Vision and we do not endorse or support them in any way.
BRCS would therefore advise our members and supporters to exercise the utmost caution should they receive such requests.
