About the Brent River Park and the Brent River and Canal Society
The Brent River & Canal Society was set up in 1973 to promote and support the Brent River Park. By 1985 the aim of having a continuous and integrated park was largely achieved.
Over the years the Society has worked with Ealing council and has campaigned successfully to protect and improve the Park. But with the cuts to the Ealing ranger service, central government’s ‘development’ agenda and the council’s new planning policies, the park is threatened.
The biggest threats are
* Uncertainty about the future of Warren Farm now that QPR football club have pulled out
* Building flats on the BRP at Gurnell
* What looks like a covert plan by Ealing Council to de-designate the entire Brent River Park.
We receive no official funding and are dependent on our volunteers.
