Brent River Park ‘re-invigoration’ project

After 40 years the Brent River Park’s many of the 8 miles of paths and information boards look a bit run down and unloved. So they need some renewal, improvement and updating to best showcase this valuable Ealing asset.

BRCS member Phil Alford set up a ‘crowdfunding’ appeal. But no luck. Phil reports:

In 2015 Ealing Council created an opportunity for residents to access £410,000 to help fund projects that bring green and open spaces into use for the general public – the initiative is called “Transform Your Space”.

The initiative encouraged residents to come up with ideas to improve where they live, gather support locally from neighbours, family and friends and, to get financial help with getting their project started.

Two Brent River related projects were identified: one to improve the Brent River Park to coincide with the 40th anniversary of BRCS, and the other focused on the river area next to Greenford Bridge/Ruislip Road East.

Unfortunately, the Council has decided not to select either project for funding.

The Council has now announced which projects did get funding – https://www.ealing.gov.uk/news/article/1423/council_awards_170000_to_transform_community_spaces

Just to say thank you very much to people for taking the time and effort to show support for the projects – much appreciated!
